Our client, a regional 313-bed hospital seeks a Director of the Comprehensive Cancer Center. The state-of-the-art center is affiliated with major University Schools of Medicine and Nursing.
The three-story, 70,000 square-foot facility opened in January 2006 which includes an adult oncology center with infusion stations, exam rooms, consultation rooms, minor procedure rooms, a diagnostic breast center and physician offices, a Children's Cancer Clinic, which includes the children's oncology/hematology treatment center with infusion stations, pediatric oncology clinics and physician offices.
Patients have access to experienced and respected physicians, radiologists and surgeons, a skilled and caring nursing staff and the most current protocols for cancer diagnosis, treatment and care. In the modern and attractive facility, patients have access to a full range of diagnosis and treatment services, including surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, laboratory testing, clinical trials and support services.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director provides strong leadership and administrative direction in establishing a high performance comprehensive cancer center recognized for providing top quality, patient focused and research based care. Leads, facilitates and executes the development of a Comprehensive Oncology Center programming, including multidisciplinary clinic operations to integrate all aspects of Oncology into a comprehensive service line with a research component. Areas of responsibility are Infusion Therapy, Genetic Counseling, Patient Support Services, Center for Breast Health, The Diagnostic Breast Center, Clinical Trials, Oncology Inpatient, Oncology Nurse Specialist and the Palliative Care Program.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Create a clear vision of the Oncology services and communicates that vision to constituents at all levels within/out the organization
• Builds strong relations that create coalitions across department lines.
• Creates a strong service culture
• Facilitates productive and constructive relationships between physicians, nursing, marketing, education and other healthcare providers
• Develops, recommends, and implements policies and procedures that guide and support clinic provision of service
• Creates an environment of trust and respect, balancing financial concerns with patient care needs
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Masters Degree is desired
• Minimum of five years progressive healthcare management experience, preference will be given to those with a clinical background in oncology
• Financial management experience
• Extensive knowledge about the clinical needs of the cancer patient and family
• Excellent analytical, verbal, written and interpersonal skills are required
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
• Competitive salary (commensurate with experience.
• Incentive bonus up to 15% based upon the overall performance of the organization. These increases are evaluated following the end of the Fiscal Year and will be prorated during the initial year of employment.
