Cancer CarePoint announces a significant Medical Directorship opportunity available to an Oncologist interested in assuming a pivotal leadership role to coordinate the overall oncology service line as a single comprehensive service.
The freestanding cancer center, which opened in 2006, provides an integrated, economically viable and regionally focused cancer, clinical and translational science program. The facility is an easily accessible, visible and highly identifiable, 50,000+ sq. ft. outpatient Cancer and Research Institute. The healthcare institution is accredited by The Joint Commission, ACR, CAP, CARP, ACoS and the ICAVL. The Hospital was recently selected by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) to participate in a three year pilot for the NCI Community Cancer Centers Program (NCCCP).
The Medical Director will work in close collaboration with the Executive Director, Medical Staff and Administration to:
. Expand the role of the cancer center as the regional leader in cancer care to an elite status unsurpassed in the region;
. Lead ongoing assessment and application of evidence-based medicine throughout the region;
. Ensure the cancer center has a full continuum of cancer care; and
. Promote and expand the role of the private practice physician in the community and the region as a primary provider of cancer care.
The Medical Director position is 70 percent Administrative and 30 percent Clinical. It is projected the Director will have one clinic day per week or one half day surgery and one half day clinic, depending on the Director's specialty background. The position is open to physicians with proven leadership and experience with evidence based practices in oncology and research. An infrastructure to support the Director's clinical practice is currently in place.
Candidates require at least five years of active and sustained participation in senior management at a Cancer Institute, as well as evidence of outstanding academic accomplishment and scholarly productivity in the discharge of teaching, research and/or clinical responsibilities. All candidates must have an established reputation for excellence within the fields of oncology. All candidates must have demonstrated significant leadership abilities; possess a demonstrated ability in management; possess a clinical research background strong enough to qualify as a Georgia Cancer Coalition distinguished Clinician (publications; grant funding; clinical research; strong clinical background; patents/licenses; memberships; and mentorship/teaching experience); work collaboratively with physicians; and have demonstrated experience as an educator.
